Who owns them
Unless a caption says otherwise, the photographs on this site are the copyright of Anthony Sharman or of Evocatus Consulting Ltd, and all rights are reserved. Each image carries its creator, credit line, copyright notice and a link back to this page inside the file itself, in the IPTC and XMP metadata that photo tools and search engines read. The same information is published in the structured data on the page where the photograph appears.
What we will usually say yes to
Editorial, educational and non-commercial use with a credit. That covers a news or feature article, a lecture or course handout, a conference slide, a student essay, a museum or regimental publication, and a share on social media that links back to the page the image came from. Ask first through the contact form, tell us where and how the image will appear, and we will normally reply within a few working days. There is no charge for use of this kind.
What needs a licence
Commercial use of any kind: advertising, product or service marketing, stock resale, book covers, merchandise, or use inside a paid product or training course. We license these case by case. Tell us the use, the territory and the duration and we will quote.
How to credit
Use the credit line embedded in the image, which for most photographs is Anthony Sharman / Evocatus Consulting, and where you can, link to the page the photograph came from. Please do not crop out or alter the image in a way that changes what it shows, and do not remove the embedded metadata.
Photographs of people and of military subjects
Some images show serving or former service personnel, equipment and training areas. They were taken with permission and released for publication. That permission does not extend to uses that would identify individuals in a new context, imply endorsement, or misrepresent what is shown. If in doubt, ask.
Ask us
